Alfred L Tangeman, 96 of Van Wert, OH passed away peacefully on Jan 17th, 2024, in Fort Wayne, IN. Al was born July 6th, 1927, in Van Wert and a lifelong resident. He was a Medic in the Army on the base at Ft. Lewis, WA. He worked for 43 years at the Continental Can. He was a gifted woodworker and enjoyed working in his barn making shelves, tables, and even wooden flowers he painted and would deliver to nursing home residents that he visited several times a week for years. He had the patience to bring all three young grandkids into his workshop but little patience when it came to waiting for a speeding ticket, or for his food at a restaurant. Al was witty, charming, and never met a stranger. For years he drove three of his friends that could not drive to get coffee every day. He was a loyal and caring family man.
He was the son of the late Fred and Bernadine (Buecker) Tangeman. He married Ethel Myers Cash in 1968 who preceded him in death in 2000. He was also preceded in death by siblings Anthony F Tangeman, Dorothy Conrad and Betty Shook.
He is survived by daughters, Colleen (Cash) Keltner of Aiken, SC, and Lark (Cash) Keltner of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Ryan (Tonya) Keltner of Inman, SC, Emily Keltner of Ft. Wayne, IN, Sarah Keltner of Aiken, SC; great grandchildren, Christopher (Meredith) Stuart, Abby Stuart, Devon Keltner and Cali Edwards; a great, great grandchild, Cora Stuart. Thank you to all his special health care providers, including Tammy - VA nurse, Parkview Hospice healthcare team, Golden Years-neighborhood D staff.
