Alice Provci

Alice Marie Provci, 73, of Rockford, Ohio passed away at 3:35 am on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford. She was born to Oscar and Gertrude (Guggenbiller) Schumacher on May 15, 1943 in Celina, Ohio. She married Jack Provci on October 24, 1970. Alice was very active in the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford. She was a member of the church, the Women of St. Teresa; Director of Religious Education for 15 years; member of the Prayer Chain; a Proclaimer of the Church; and a Eucharistic Minister. Alice started her working career for Bruce Green Ford in Celina. She then became a secretary for Mercer Landmark. She was the smiling face behind the desk at the elevator for over 37 years. She retired from that position in 2011. Alice loved fishing and going to auctions and s. But, her favorite pastime was being a loving grandmother and going to as many softball, soccer, baseball and basketball games in which her grandchildren participated. She was a wonderful seamstress and loved to bake and cook for her family. In addition to her husband, Jack, also surviving are three children: Stephanie (Steve) Sprunger, Berne, Indiana; Matthew Provci, Rockford, Ohio; and Staci (Carl) Sprunger, Pennville, Indiana. Two grandchildren: Tyler and Amber Sprunger survive. Also surviving are two sisters: Esther Zizelman, Rockford and Wilma (Ken) Paysen, Tega Cay, South Carolina. Deceased are two brothers: Ralph and Paul Schumacher. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford with Father Ken Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Family and friends may call on the family from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd with a Rosary Service being held at 7:30 p.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford. Memorials may be directed to the State of the Heart Hospice.
