Alice Elizabeth Shank, 88, of Middle Point, died at 9:11 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice, Van Wert, Ohio. She was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to Wilma (Kerns) DuVall and Albert DuVall. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Paul E. Shank, died in July 2, 2014. They were married June 1, 1947.
Survivors include her children: Paul Timothy (Jean) Shank, Conway, South Carolina, and Debra E. (John) Shank Thern, Millersburg, Ohio, three grandchildren: Stephanie L. Farmer, Curtis Shank, and Taryn A. Shank, and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Otis William DuVall, Harold Elmer DuVall, Dale Kenneth DuVall, and Wayne Ray Duvall, and sisters: Ruth Evelyn Tribolet, Margaret Kathryn Horstman, and Mary Louise Gear.
Alice was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She had friends of all ages whom she enjoyed. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, where she had taught youth Sunday school. She continued to be a prayer warrior for the Lord until he called her home. She and Paul were involved with Gideon's International Van Wert Camp.
Service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday April 24, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Steve Savage will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Trinity Friends Church or Gideon's International
