Alverta Graham

VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Alverta M. Graham, 86, of Van Wert, Ohio, formerly of Payne, Ohio, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Van Wert.
She was born March 20, 1927, in Grantsville, Md., to the late Ida Mae (Bittinger) Durst and Emanuel E. Durst.
Her husband, Merwin D. Graham, died May 9, 2005. They were married Dec. 24, 1952.
Survivors include children: Diane (John) Hearne of Gilbert, Ariz., and Maudie (Tom) Wingo of Van Wert; sister: Delores (Glenn) Sisler of Grantsville, Md.; five grandchildren: Michelle Barlow, Chad Fisher, Natalie Fisher, Brittany Gleason, Olivia Wingo, and three great-grandchildren: Brant Barlow, Madison Fisher, Scarlett Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Charlie, Lester and Menno Durst, and sister: Melda Havener.
She was a homemaker and a member of Church of the Nazarene in Payne, where she taught Sunday school for 27 years.
Alverta found much joy in flower gardening, baking, and most importantly a�" spending time with her grandchildren.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date in Grantsville, Md. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grantsville.
Preferred memorial may be directed to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
