Barbara A. Pemberton, 75, of Van Wert, died at 1:27 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice, Van Wert. She was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Helen (Winkler) Taylor and Calvin Taylor. Her husband, Dale Pemberton, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include her children, Elizabeth Pemberton of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Rev. James Pemberton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and two sisters, Stephanie (Doug) Bay of St. Louis, Missouri, and Martha (Steve) Briner of St. Charles, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Oligschlaeger.
She served as school administrator for Paulding County Schools for 20 years and taught at I.P.F.W. in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, for 14 years. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, since 1967, and a member of Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert. She was one of the founders and former president of Wee Care Day Care Center in Van Wert, a supporter of the Van Wert Brumback Library, and loved quilting and gardening and competed in many quilting and photography events.
Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert. Pastor Karl A. Frincke will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and 10-10:30 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert.
