Barbara Gene Wagner, 77, of Convoy, Ohio, passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on December 18, 1938, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Eugene Joseph and Mary Evelyn (Nogle) Gilliland, both of whom are deceased. She married David E. Wagner on October 1, 1960. He also preceded her in death on March 11, 2005.
Wagner is survived by her children, Kimberly Kay Wagner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mark David Wagner of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; a brother, Bob Gilliland of The Villages, Florida; and two sisters, Bev Gilliland of Chattanooga, Tn and Bunnie (Chick) Stewart of Van Wert.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Ables.
Wagner was retired from Dana/Weatherhead Corporation after 22 years of service and also taught Bible classes in Van Wert County Schools. She was a 25-year volunteer with Community Health Professionals - Hospice. Wagner enjoyed baking pies and making candy. She loved her dog, Cole, and taking him to nursing homes to visit.
A visitation will take place from 1 -5 p.m. on Sunday, December 27 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. A burial in the Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Convoy, Ohio, will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Community Health Professionals-Hospice, 1159 Westwood Dr., Van Wert.
