Beatrice “Bebe” Hicks

March 27, 1952 — September 10, 2018

Beatrice Mae “Bebe” Rodriguez Hicks, 66, died early Monday morning, September 10, 2018, in her hometown of Rockford where she had been living since 2012.    She was born on March 27, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Adolf E. and Guadelupe “Lupe” (Garza) Rodriguez, both who have preceded in death.  Bebe was a graduate of the Parkway High School Class of 1970.  She attended Wright State University, and then moved back to Fort Wayne, where she lived the majority of her life.   In Fort Wayne, she attended Lighthouse Deliverance Cathedral.  Bebe was a homemaker and the mother of two children:  Elisha (Corey J.) Hicks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jonathan (Alyssa M.) Hicks of Caruthers, California; both families blessed her with beautiful grandchildren:  Ava, Libby, Clara, and Leila.

Also surviving are two brothers and four sisters:  Jessie (Connie) Rodriguez of New Bremen, Ohio; Benny (Sandy) Rodriguez of Beaver, Ohio; Helen (Jay) Litherland of Sarasota, Florida; Margaret (Robert) McNaughton of St. Petersburg, Florida; Beda (Robert) Sielschott of Lima, Ohio; and Judy (Brad) Mann of St. Petersburg, Florida.  Deceased in addition to her parents is one brother, Rod Rodriguez and one sister, Mary Bennett.

Bebe lived everyday through the grace, love, and light she received from our Heavenly Father.  Her path was a true example of faith.  Her family was a large part of her life and her strength.  She loved spending time and laughing with her  brothers and sisters, and raising her wonderful sons.  She was blessed with four beautiful granddaughters who became the joy of her life.  Her passion showed from an early age as she was aptly nicknamed “Bebe Gun” because of her feistiness.  She was always positive, optimistic, and a dreamer who thought all things were possible  Bebe’s zest for life, and her kind, caring soul were things she passed on to all who knew her.

Bebe has chosen to donate her body to Ohio University for research, in the hope of helping others. Following her wishes, there will be no services for Bebe at this time.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at ketchamripley.com
