Betty Anspach, 74, of Van Wert, Ohio and Nokomis, Florida, lost her courageous battle with Liver cancer on August 10, 2015 in Sarasota Florida. She was born in Van Wert County to Myron Hunter and Rachael Thornell Hunter on August 14 1940, who preceded her in death. On June 2, 1957 she married Kenneth (Ken) Anspach who survives.
She is survived by daughters Cynthia (Dan) Hesseling of Van Wert; Melanie Cavinder (Dan Macias) Decatur Indiana; grandchildren; Jessica (Tim ) Barr of Kent, Ohio; Melissa (Nathan) Sinning of Okinawa; Angela (Edward) Herber of Yoder, Indiana; Derek Laux of Salt Lake City, Utah; Beth Cavinder of North Miami Florida; Becky Cavinder (Milo Rison) of Decatur, Indiana. Cathy Cavinder of Decatur Indiana; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Stanley (Jean) Hunter of Miran, Kentucky; Lowell (Dona) of Wolcottville, Indiana; Merrill Hunter of Ligonier, Indiana; two sisters, Ruby (Steve) Teeple of Bradenton, Florida; Bonita (Harold) Burtner of Muncie, Indiana; sister-in-law Nancy (Rodney) Hunter of LaGrange, Indiana; several niece's, nephew's and several step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Hunter and Rodney Hunter.
She was a Member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert Ohio and Venice/Nokomis United Methodist Church in Nokomis FL and was a member of the choir in both churches. Her musical talents and enthusiasm is a legacy to her family. Betty was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Van Wert, where she served as Worthy Matron Several Times. She also served as Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Ohio. She retired from Central Mutual Insurance Co. 2001.
Above all else was her love of family, and she never lost sight of the relationship of the family unite. Betty was always encouraging all to do their best in whatever they were doing and never let grandchildren leave the house hungry. She had a tremendous greeting card ministry that will always be remembered by many.
Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Friday, August 28 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, Ohio with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, August 29 at First United Methodist Church, Van Wert with Pastor Gus Christo-Baker officiating. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford Ohio at 1:30 PM.
