Betty Foust

Margaret "Betty" Foust passed away at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Van Wert Manor. She was born on November 24, 1924, in Van Wert, to Harvey G. and Esther (Baker) Thatcher-McClure, who both preceded her in death. She married Carl Foust on October 16, 1943, he also preceded her in death on January 10, 2009. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

She was a 1942 graduate of Hoaglin Jackson High School and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and working along side her husband on the farm. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids. She was an avid bowler and loved to play cards and bingo, was a former member of the Naples Elks and had wintered in Naples, Florida for over 40 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane (Clair) Thatcher of Middle Point and Suzi (Rick) Teats of Apollo Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Carla Thatcher (deceased), Craig (Renee) Thatcher, Christie (Kyle) Wendel, Tanji Hawk (John Shaver), Tony (Jennifer) Teats, Torrey (Katy) Teats; great grandchildren, Courtney, Katlyn and Carly Wendel, Braden Thatcher, Brooke (Connor) Holliday, Tarick (Gavin) Strine, Remington Hawk, Logan, Ethan, Elliott, Clark and Jack Teats; great great grandchildren, Bristol and Briar Strine. She is also survived by two sisters, Beatrice Lautzenheiser of Van Wert and Donna Johns (Von Hilliard) of Miamisburg; two brothers, Harvey Thatcher and Philip (Bonnie) McClure, both of Van Wert County.

In addition to her husband, parents and granddaughter, Carla, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Kenneth Thatcher; step father, Ray McClure; and many sister's in law and brother's in law, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 12:30 PM, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, with Rev. Chris Farmer, officiating. Interment will follow in Mohr Cemetery, Van Wert.

Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial contributions in Betty`s memory may be directed to the Van Wert Manor Activities Fund or to Community Health Professionals- Hospice.
