VAN WERT - Betty Mae Kear Huzzar, 88, of Van Wert, died at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born March 1, 1924, in Van Wert, to the late F. Ethel (Atha) Kear and Floyd Daniel Kear.
Her husband, Walter F. "Wally" Huzzar, died July 26, 2002. They were married June 24, 1945, in Lima, Ohio.
Survivors include a daughter: Joyce JoAnn Huzzar Thomas of Westerville, Ohio, a brother: Kenneth L. Kear of Jackson, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Eugene "Gene" Kear and a sister: Margaret Ford.
She worked at Patterson Field (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) Fairborn, Ohio, from 1942-1945 and retired from National Seal Division, Federal Mogul Corp. in Van Wert, where she worked from 1948-1986.
She was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, the Silver Seals, Business & Professional Women, United Methodist Women (UMW), 60 Plus Adventure Group and Seeker Sunday School Class.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. The Rev. Josh Tissot will officiate.
Friends may call from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Heart Association or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
