Betty Whitted

Betty L. Whitted, 76, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 8:25 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. She was born on February 10, 1937, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Parents were Johnny and Rosie Ann Ethel (Davis) Vann. She was married to Thurman Whitted in 1953, and he preceded in death on October 5, 1998. She worked at Tu-Way Products in Rockford, retiring in 1998, after over 25 years there. She moved from Knoxville in 1968, and there she attended the Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star there and in Celina, Ohio. Surviving are two sons: Thurman Whitted, Jr.,of Rockford; Ohio, and John (Pat) Whitted of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and one daughter, Vera Whitted of Rockford. Also surviving is a brother, Fred (Gloria) Vann, of Rockford, Ohio; a sister, Donna (Eddie) Houk, of Sterling Heights, Michigan; 3 sisters-in-law, Nancy Lee Vann, of Powder Springs, Georgia, Ina and Sarah Whaley, both of Seiverville, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers, John H. and Franklin D. Vann. A memorial service will be held at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio on Wedneday, March 27th at 11:00 am. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service, from 9am to 11am. Pastor Schwartz will be officiating.
