VAN WERT, Ohio - Billy D. "Dubby" Moore, 85, of Van Wert, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lottie (Dubbs) Moore and Carl Moore.
His wife, Patsy L. Moore, died Nov. 24, 2006. They were married Aug. 27, 1949.
Survivors include his children: William C. (Vicki) Moore of Convoy, Ohio, Timothy C. Moore of Van Wert, four grandchildren: Michael, Nicole and Drew Moore; Andrea Campbell, and great-grandchildren: Conner Blake and Lola Mae Campbell.
He retired as Van Wert City Chief of Police after 25 years of service. He had also worked at his father's movie theater - The Ohio Theater - until its closing in 1959.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert. He was an avid car enthusiast and a member of Van Wert F.O.P. Lodge 62, Van Wert Knights of Columbus Council 6034, Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197, and Van Wert Masonic Lodge 218.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Deacon Andy McMahon will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Friends may call from 11:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church
