Brian R. "Bake" Baker, 39, of Rockford, died suddenly on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 12:31 p.m., at the Mercer County Community Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on December 24, 1974, to Bob and Barb (Kline) Baker in Van Wert, Ohio. He was employed by Thunderbird Products in Decatur, Indiana, and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford. He lived his entire life in the area. Brian was a Liberty Township trustee, and was an avid hunter, mainly hunting coyotes. He was a big fan of the Reds as well as the Buckeyes, and was a sideline girls softball coach, and was very verbal! He loved his family very much, and he loved playing with his nieces and nephews, especially softball with the kids. He impacted so many of the student athletes and the student body at Parkway, and he loved watching their games. He was always straight-forward, and he had a big heart-- he would do anything for anybody. Surviving is his mother, Barb, Rockford, Ohio; two sisters--Beth Baker of Rockford, and Betsy (Patrick) Johnson of Willshire, Ohio. Four nieces and nephews survive: McKenna, Macy, Bodie, and Parker Johnson. His fiance, Kim Allen, of Rockford survives, along with her daughter, Alexis Allen of Decatur, Indiana, and her granddaughter, Ryker Allen, also of Decatur. Services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 2:30 PM, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Oregon Rd., Rockford, Ohio, with Reverend Catherine Costello officiating. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. The family requests casual attire for all friends and relatives coming to the church. Memorials, in Brian's honor, may be directed to the Rockford Recreation Association.
