Carl Gheen

Carl Lee Gheen "Cooter", 74, of Van Wert passed away on March 14, 2021 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born on February 12, 1947, in Zanesville, to the late Harry and Clara Elizabeth (Samson) Gheen.

On January 30, 1975, he married Nancy Bashore. Cooter worked his entire life as a truck driver. He was a biker for many years before a motorcycle accident made it impossible. As a proud man, Cooter who never liked to ask for help after losing his independence.

Cooter also enjoyed teasing and picking on his kids and grandchildren, especially his grandsons.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy of Van Wert; sons: David (Tasha) Bashore of Van Wert; Bill (Doris) Gheen of Virginia; Chris Gheen of Van Wert; Carl Gheen Jr of Florida; daughter, Carla Blair of Georgia; siblings: Gerald "Bill Gheen, Don (Hazel) Gheen, Tom, Raymond, Wayne, Chuck (Jackie), Joyne Miller, all of Zanesville, OH;  Ed (Joann) Gheen and Rosie Tanner, both of Bainbridge, Ohio; 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings and a great grandson, Zyathen.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Cooter's memory may be sent to the family for final expenses.
