Carl Girod of Plant City, Florida, passed away suddenly Jan. 16, 2016, at his residence.
He was born April 22, 1940, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Lloyd and Florence (Ladd) Girod.
His wife, Linda (Bowers) Girod, survives in Plant City, Florida. They were married Dec. 9, 1960.
Other survivors include children, Rick Girod of Grover Hill and Gary (Debra) Girod of Florida; grandchildren, Naya Girod, Stacy Girod, Sara Phlipot, Ricky Girod, Kasey Girod, Jessica Girod; four great-grandchildren, and his sister, Evelyn Pugh of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Girod and Florence Ladd, and brothers, Gary Girod and Daryl Girod.
He was involved in the automotive and trucking industry and also owned and operated campgrounds. Carl owned and enjoyed classic cars and car shows.
Carl was an outstanding husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. We will miss him every day.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Van Wert Fair Farm Bureau Food Building or American Cancer Society.
