Carolyn Sue (Cross) Counterman, 84, of Celina, Ohio, and formerly of Rockford, Ohio, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. Sue was born on November 2, 1932, to Carl D. and Anna R. (Brown) Cross, both who have preceded in death. Carolyn Sue was a 1949 graduate of Rockford High School. She worked at Celina Animal Hospital for 25 years, and prior to that had worked at Otis Hospital in Celina. She had been a member of the former East Bethel Church outside of Rockford, and later, attended church in Neptune; she enjoyed working with children in Bible school and during that time, also taught Children's Sunday School. She moved to Sun City, Florida around 1990, where she enjoyed the warm temperatures, which were never too warm for her. Carolyn's hobbies were working in her flowers, shopping, and traveling. She loved to go to Hawaii and Aruba. She enjoyed spending time with her friends in Florida and in Mercer County. She loved her grandchildren: Shelley Ullery and Arthur Ullery; great grandchildren, Austin Emans and Shania Emans; and great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh Emans and Ryker Emans. In addition to her parents, deceased are her only daughter, Daphne Ullery, and her brother, Van Cross. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Rutledge Officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford, Ohio.
