VAN WERT, Ohio - Charles A. Hargesheimer, 90, of Van Wert, died at 9:33 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Van Wert Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1922, in Union Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Stella (Hansel) Hargesheimer and Elbert Hargesheimer. His wife, Mary K. (Davis) Hargesheimer, survives of Van Wert. They were married July 17, 1948.
Other survivors include children: Rose (David) Wherry, Vicky (Richard) Racster, both of Van Wert, Wanda (Gary) Evans of Troy, Ohio, and Rita (Charles) Kreinbihl of Findlay, Ohio; a sister: Marilee Conner of Longview, Wash.; grandchildren: Kris Kill, Angela Plumley, Tim Racster, Steven Racster, David Racster, Bryan Long, Eric Long, Nathan Long, Laura Kreinbihl, Marisa Kreinbihl, and great-grandchildren: Kenyon and Carolina Kill.
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Dixie Sue Hargesheimer, two brothers: Phillip Hargesheimer and Elbert Hargesheimer II, and a sister: Alice Bailey.
He retired from the Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert, had previously worked at Grizzly Manufacturing Marimont in Paulding, Ohio, and helped on the family farm. He was a lifetime member of North Union United Methodist Church, Van Wert, a United States Army veteran of WW II stationed in Japan, a member of American Legion Lewis Post 208 in Convoy, Ohio, Van Wert County Democratic Party, Van Wert County Genealogical Society and Van Wert County Historical Society. He served as North Union United Methodist Church financial secretary.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Greg Wack will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Military graveside services will be conducted.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is North Union United Methodist Church or Community Health Professionals - Visiting Nurses and Private Duty.
