VAN WERT, Ohio - Charles E. Leaser, 69, Van Wert, died at 5:44 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Lutheran Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Nov. 1, 1941, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Velma R. (Etgen) Leaser and Clinton Charles Leaser. He married Yvonne (Todhunter) of North London, England, and she survives.
Other survivors include his children: Collin (Leslie) Leaser and David (Sarah) Leaser, both of Van Wert, Julie Dominique of Middle Point, Ohio, and Suzanne (Rick) Akom of Scott, Ohio; sisters: Lucille Bowen of Van Wert, Elizabeth (Dale) Hire of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Margaret (Michael) Hipsley and Helen Rode, both of Van Wert; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
He worked at the Times Bulletin for nine years, the Chrysler-Amplex plant for two years, Borden's Cheese Co. for six years and at the Partee Shop for 36 years. He served in the US Army and was stationed in France during the Vietnam War.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. The Rev. Terry Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Military service by the Van Wert American Legion and VFW Posts.Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
