Connie Johnson

Connie Sue Johnson, 66, of Convoy, passed away at 1:58 PM on August 07, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on October 15, 1953, in Van Wert, to Carl and Bonnie (Harter) Schaadt. On June 27, 1980, she married the love of her life, Robert W. "Bob" Johnson. Together, they shared many years of memories.

Connie formerly owned and operated the Candy Bin in Van Wert for many years and retired from Central Insurance in 2013 after 39 years. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing, quilting, and playing the slots at the casino. However, her favorite times were time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Johnson of Convoy; children: Chuck A. (Shawnee) Foehl of IN; Elizabeth R. (Travis) Rhoades of Swanton, OH; Michael R. Johnson of Decatur, IN; stepmother, Marvel Schaadt of Portis, KS; siblings: Doris (Ken) Kundert of Delphos, OH; Marie (Mike) Sheets of Van Wert, OH; Robin (Doyle) Sheets of Convoy, OH; Mark (Laura) Schaadt of Van Wert, OH; grandchildren: Avery and Megan Foehl, Courtney (Gary) Lyons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Gearhart-Sauer Funeral Home 655 N. Main St. Convoy, OH 45891 with Rev. Wayne Kargas officiating. Interment will follow in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

The family will receive from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Gearhart-Sauer Funeral Home and again one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Although family and friends are invited to attend Connie's visitation and services, we continue to be cautious and concerned for those who are most vulnerable, the elderly and those with serious health issues. We strongly urge everyone to remain vigilant and respect the well-being of the family members and friends. Attendees are asked to observe social distancing, refrain from close physical contact, and wear facial coverings as required by state mandate.

Memorial contributions in Connie`s memory may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
