D. Philip Jones, 74, of Venedocia, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born March 2, 1942, in Lima, the son of J. Paul and Alice (Siegel) Jones, who both preceded him in death. On June 24, 1967, he married Donna Jean (McKinney) Jones, who survives in Venedocia.
Other survivors include two daughters, Angela (John) Beardsley of Bowling Green and Cheryl (Keith) Mongold of Van Wert; a brother, Thomas (LaVon) Jones of Venedocia; and four grandchildren, Jay Beardsley, Logan Beardsley, Kylee Mongold, and Evan Mongold.
Philip was a retired self-employed truck driver, roofing and spouting contractor, and farmer. He was a member of Ohio City Community Church of God and a graduate and senior class president at the former York High School in the Class of 1960 a�" the last class to graduate from that school. He also enjoyed antique tractors.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Randy Bevington officiating.
Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
