VAN WERT, Ohio - Dan R. Jerome, 81, Van Wert, died at 6:20 a.m. at Vancrest Assisted Living, Van Wert.
He was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Van Wert, to the late Winnie (Snyder) Jerome and Daniel Jerome. His wife, P. Joyce (Herring) Jerome, died Jan. 31, 1990. They were married Aug. 18, 1948.
Survivors include his children: Barry Jerome of Van Wert, Michael (Teri) Jerome of Payne, Elizabeth (Kerry) Hubartt of Leo, Ind., Melissa (Gary) Clay and Joy (Jon) Bagley, both of Van Wert; a sister: Kay (Rex) Rodman of Van Wert; 18 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Richard, Robert, Maynard, James and Graydon Jerome, foster brother: Paul Mason, and sisters: Gwendolyn Knodel and Catherine Roth.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert. He retired after 32 years as a painter with Alexander-Bebout Construction and previously worked 12 years at Marsh Foundation, Van Wert, as a painter. He was a former Little League Baseball coach and involved in church softball and basketball as a player and coach.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Gideon's International.
