Darrell Debbe

Darrell A. Debbe, 79, of Van Wert, died at 3:57 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Nellie Frances (Sherburne) Debbe and Howard Frederick Debbe. His parents are deceased.

His wife, Roberta D. (Huss) Debbe, whom he married Dec. 6, 1958, survives of Van Wert.

Other survivors include children, Lizabeth (Mark) Davis, Michael (Maranda) Debbe and Rebecca (Michael) Freeman, all of Van Wert; brothers, Robert (Wilma) Debbe Sr. of Neapolis, Ohio, Thomas (Judi) Debbe of Grand Rapids, Ohio, and Douglas (Peg) Debbe of Key Largo, Florida; sisters, Carolyn Schabow and Marie Gordon, both of Northwest Ohio, and grandchildren, Kevin and Anna Davis; Michaela and Maxwell Debbe.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Debbe and Ruth Thys.

He was a general supervisor with Budd Co. for 22 A½ years, retiring in 1998. He attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of the American Legion and a former member of the Moose lodge. Darrell enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his grandchildren.

Service will be private.

Visitation is 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, where military honors will be rendered by the combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and VFW following visitation at 3 p.m. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor's charity of choice.
