David L. Cullen Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Lewis Cullen Jr., age 46, on December 5, 2024, due to a tragic accident. David was born on May 28, 1978, in Lima, Ohio, to David Cullen and Carla (Shaffer) Bailey and spent his life in the Van Wert community and most recently in Ft Wayne, Indiana.

He is survived by his father, David Cullen of Van Wert; mother, Carla (Shaffer) Bailey of Baxter, Tennessee; brothers, Joshua Cullen of Van Wert and Jeremy Cullen of Bryan, Ohio; sister, Amy Cullen of Cookville, Tennessee; step sister, Mahary Riley of Van Wert; step-father, Rick Bailey; several nieces and nephews; and one great nephew. David's warm spirit and loving nature will be missed profoundly by his family and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Brenda Cullen; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Opal Shaffer; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Betty Cullen; and aunt, Deborah Cullen

David was an avid football fan, known for his passionate analysis of each game. He found joy in watching sci-fi movies and delighting in the card game of spades. Above all, he cherished his loyal companion, his dog, Rio, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

The family will host a memorial service in the spring to honor David's life, celebrating his passions, love for family, and unforgettable spirit. Details regarding the memorial service will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
