David Raines, Sr

VAN WERT, Ohio — David L. Raines, Sr., 63, of Van Wert, died Thursday morning, March 20, 2014, at his residence.

He was born June 30, 1950, to the late Myrtle (Howard) Raines and Rad Raines, Sr.

His wife, Barbara (Pease) Raines, survives of Van Wert. They were married Aug. 6, 1988.

Other survivors include children: Philip D. (Areena) Raines, Sr., Aderian Raines, Monica Raines, all of Van Wert; brothers: John (Mary) Raines of Lima, and Ralph Raines and Johnnie Patrick, both of Van Wert; sisters: Maggie Knittle-McCarty of Van Wert, Teresa King of Lima, Ohio, Goldie (Craig) Fleming of Pensecola, Fla., Nina (Burl) Gibson of Elida, Ohio, Connie (Kevin) Casey of Lima; sisters-in-law: Marlene Raines and Nellie Raines, both of Lima, Stella Raines of Van Wert, and grandchildren: Philip D. Raines, Jr., Aiden Hammons, Alanta Hammons, Aleeah Raines and Preston Raines.

He was preceded in death by a son: David L. Raines, Jr., and brothers: Buddy, James and Rad Jr. Raines.

He was a drywaller.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is American Cancer Society.
