Delores Whitcraft

VAN WERT, Ohio - Delores A. "Dee" Whitcraft, 67, of Van Wert, died at 3:01 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Edna (Deitrich) Hofmann and George Hofmann.

Her husband, Steve Whitcraft, survives of Van Wert. They were married Feb. 18, 1967.

Other survivors include children: Scott (Traci) Whitcraft of Cleveland, Tenn., and Jason (Angie) Whitcraft of West Liberty, Ohio, sisters: Louise (Wayne) Showalter and Ella (Dick) Jackson, both of Van Wert, and Elsie (Al) Selking of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and eight grandchildren: Kaleb, Taylor, Jordan, Spencer and Camille Whitcraft; Courtney, Brianna and Gabriella Van Horne.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Oscar Hofmann.

She was a retired director of Vantage Career Center, Van Wert. A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, she was a current member of Van Wert Rotary, Wright State University Western Ohio Educational Foundation (WOEF) Board of Trustees and Van Wert Twig II and past president of Main St. Van Wert, Van Wert Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Van Wert County. Dee was also instrumental in the creation of the Wee Care Daycare Center in Van Wert.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Van Wert County, Ohio.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, AT ST. MARK'S LUTHERAN CHURCH and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorial is St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
