Dennis Glass

Dennis F. "Tiny" Glass, 71, of Scott, Ohio passed away 10:33 PM Monday October 5, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born April 23, 1944 to W. Ray and Betty J. (Hooker) Glass. On October 19, 1969 he married Ruth Ann (Gilroy) Glass and she survives of Scott, Ohio. He is survived by his children: Michele (Gary) Breese of Rockford, Ohio; Bryon Glass of Scott, Ohio; and Christina (Jay) Young of Venedocia, Ohio. He is also survived by 4 living grandchildren: Isaac Young and Jordan Young of Venedocia, Ohio; Macy Glass of Scott, Ohio; and Rachel Breese of Rockford, Ohio. Other survivors include: Mother in law, Estella Gilroy of Van Wert, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Mary and Vernon Murray of Delphos, Ohio; sisters, Diana Glass and Rebecca Brotherwood of Van Wert, Ohio; nephew, Brent Bollenbaugh; nieces, Laura Jane Roberts and Emily Leasure; adopted brothers, Gary and Rusty Stevens; and several great nieces and nephew.

Dennis had farmed on the family farm and for friends, had worked at F.L.P., Brookside Dairy delivering milk, Federal Mogul and retired from GKN Sinter Metals (formerly Chrysler Amplex), all of Van Wert, Ohio. He was a Journeyman Machinist and a 1962 Blue Creek High School graduate. He enjoyed playing softball on many teams in Van Wert County, but the joy of his life was his roller hockey team at Byer's Roller Rink in Van Wert. He was a player/coach on the team when they won the Ohio State Championship. He was also an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. He was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, Ohio having served as a Sunday school teacher and Dennis and his wife had been co-leaders of the church youth group where they had many good times with the youth of the church. He was known in Scott as the "supervisor" when there were any village projects being done and as "The Judge" at the wiffle ball games at the Van Wert County Fair.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Matthew and Margery Glass; and father in law, Everet Gilroy.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday October 9, 2015 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio. Rev. Neil Hammons will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Scott Cemetery, Scott, Ohio.
