Diane Thompson

Diane Lee Thompson, 66, of Van Wert, died at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Van Wert County Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1950, in Salem, Ohio, to Robert (Florence) Pack of Ft. Myers, Florida, and the late Silvia (Myers) Pack.

On March 22, 1972, she married Michael Thompson and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2011. Then on July 12, 2014, she married Phillip Braun and he survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include children, Tyler (Lyndsey) Thompson if Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim Braun of Van Wert, Scott (Karen) Braun of Van Wert, Amy (Derrek) Schuch of Wellston, Michigan; a brother, Rick Pack of Salem, Ohio; grandchildren, Haylee, Trace and Shaye Thompson of Cincinnati, Austin and Alyssa Elick of Van Wert, Taylor, Justin and Kylie Braun of Van Wert, Jacob and Destin Schuch of Wellston, Cody Schuch of Cadillac, Michigan, and a great-grandchild, Corbin Schuch.

She was a speech and hearing therapist in California and Van Wert, owned and operated DLT Designs Art Studio and served as a fitness instructor for the YWCA for 35 years. She enjoyed art, party and wedding planning, traveling to foreign and exotic places and teaching health and fitness. She graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Ohio, and Kent State with a degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy.

Service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Eric Burkhardt will officiate. Visitation is 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial may be directed to the Van Wert YWCA or Wassenberg Art Center.
