Donald G. Donley, 87, of Van Wert, died at 2:47 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
He was born June 10, 1928, in Delslow, West Virginia, to the late Beryl (Haines) Donley and Charles Donley. His wife, Marilyn (Tobias) Donley, survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include children, Dawn Laskosky of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Ron (Betty) Donley of Morgantown, West Virginia, Cindy (Jerry) Novak of Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, Nina (Ted) Rife of Maidsville, West Virginia, Charles (Gloria) Donley of Greensboro, Pennsylvania, John (Robin) Donley of Bobtown, Pennsylvania, James (Kim) Donley of Point Marion, Pennsylvania; stepchild, Rebecca (Dean) Good of Van Wert, Ohio; a brother, James (Sally) Donley of Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepchild, Randall Tobias, and a brother, Charles Donley.
He was a self-employed carpenter and construction worker. He attended Jennings Road Church of Christ, Van Wert and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. Don was a life member of the Van Wert American Legion, VFW and DAV, was a former member of The Woods Golf Course, loved to fish, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia Mountaineer fan. He enjoyed spending time with family a�" especially his great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. David Ray will officiate. Military honor services will be conducted by the Van Wert American Legion and VFW immediately following services at the funeral home.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Jennings Road Church of Christ or St. Jude's or donor's choice.
