Donald DeWitt Trobaugh, 70, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Mr. Trobaugh was born on December 4, 1947 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Glenn and Emma Life Trobaugh. He was a funeral director and a graduate of the 1967 class of Cincinnati Mortuary Science. He began his career in late 1960’s at Kyger-Pence Funeral Home, assisted with funerals for Brill Funeral Home, Long Funeral Home and he was a founding member of Kyger-Trobaugh Funeral Home from 1975 until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he operated his wife’s family farms and assisted with funerals for McMullen Funeral Home. He was a lifelong member of the Academy of Funeral Service Professionals, an active participant in the Golden Rule and a member of the Linwood Episcopal Church.
On November 13, 1970 he was united in marriage to Madge Kline Trobaugh who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Niki Gearhart and husband Andy of Van Wert Ohio, Heather Trobaugh of Harrisonburg, Tavia Trobaugh and husband Bobby Wilson of Broadway; a brother, William “Billy” Trobaugh and wife Hilda of Shenandoah; a sister, Patricia Ruminski and husband Steve of Dayton; three grandchildren, Alexa Gearhart, Sophie Gearhart and Aidan Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Reverend Stuart Wood will conduct a funeral service on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 3 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
