Donna Harris

December 21, 1950 — December 22, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna "DJ" Preston Harris, of Grover Hill, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend. Donna passed away peacefully at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice on December 22, 2024, just a day after her 74th birthday. Born in Maysville, Kentucky on December 21, 1950, to the late Silas M and Wanda Louise (Pennington) Preston, Donna lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep connection to the land she treasured.

Donna graduated from Grover Hill High School in 1968 and went on to become a devoted dairy farmer. However, Donna was more than just a dairy farmer; she was the heartbeat of her family's dairy farm. Her work on the farm wasn't just her livelihood; it was her passion. She was a member of the Professional Bull Riders and loved riding her horse, Prince, finding joy in the simplicity and beauty of farm life. Donna enjoyed the tranquility that came from being outdoors.

Donna's spirit shone brightest in her role as a faithful member of the Mandale Church of Christ in Christian Union. She was an old soul who cherished the past, yet always found joy in the present. Donna was a true people person, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. What you saw was what you got-her authenticity made her a rare gem in this world.

Although she worked hard, Donna also found the time to chase her dreams of adventure. Donna had a deep love for travel, and her latest journey took her to the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, Colorado-a trip that perfectly blended her affection for long road trips and the music of her beloved artist.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Les Harris of Grover Hill; her son, Leslie Harris Jr "Skeet" of Grover Hill; her brothers: Doug (Sandra) Preston of Grover Hill; Dennis Preston of Cloverdale; her sister, Debi (Sam) Preston Uncapher of Mendon; brother-in-law, Brent Harris of Florida; sister-in-law, Karen Rockwell of Columbus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and genuine connections that will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.

In remembrance of Donna, her family will be hosting a celebration of her life in the spring or summer months, where family and friends will be invited to share stories, laughter, and memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donna's name may be directed to CHP Home Care and Hospice or to your local animal shelter.

As we say goodbye to Donna, let us carry forward her spirit of love, generosity, and appreciation for the beauty of life.
