Doris Marie Sites, 80, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 12:55 a.m., on April 1, 2014, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. Doris was born on January 15, 1934, in Ohio City, Ohio, the daughter of Noah Asa and Mary Ruth (Williamson) George. On April 6, 1956, she married Ole Sites, and he preceded in death on December 22, 1999. She was a homemaker, and a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, Celina, Ohio. She was an active volunteer at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford, and in her church.
Surviving are 4 daughters: Susan (Leonard) Holdcraft, Bucyrus, Ohio; Sarah (Rick) Curry, Mansfield, Ohio; Shirley (Kevin) Kirkendall, Lucas, Ohio; and Sandra (Doug) Grooms, Van Wert, Ohio. Eight grandchildren survive: Jacob Kirkendall, Jessica (Randy) Patton, Collin (Katie) Grooms, Taylor Grooms, Scott Curry, Dorothy Dudley, David Holdcraft, and Paul Holdcraft, along with one great granddaughter, Trinity Dudley. Five sisters-in-law survive, and one brother-in-law, including Eileen (Earl) Klosterman of Tavares, Florida; Ruth Sites, of Celina, Ohio; Ruthie Sites, of Rockford, Ohio, Martha Van Winkle, of New London, Iowa, and Betty and John Sites, Celina, Ohio.
One "adopted daughter" Phyllis (Cary) Giardullo survives in Cincinnati, Ohio. Deceased are two brothers, Arthur and David George.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell, Celina, Ohio, on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Officiating will be the Rev. Karen Tamorria. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens, Mud Pike, Celina, Ohio. Friends may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford the day of the service, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, at which time Doris will be taken to the church.
