Dorothy E. Rhoades, 88, of Rockford, Ohio, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 6:45 a.m., at Colonial Nursing Center in Rockford, where she was a patient. She was born on August 20, 1925, in Rockford, the daughter of Darst E. and Oriel B. (Byers) Robbins. On May 17, 1946, she married Ralph E. Rhoades, and he survives in Rockford. Dorothy was a homemaker and a beautician; she had also worked at Tu Way Products in Rockford, as well as at Parkway Schools , where she was a cook. She had lived in Rockford all her life, and was a member of the Rockford Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, Ralph, is one daughter, Barb (Scott) Bowen of Rockford; six grandchildren: Brenda (Matt) Schneider, Botkins, Ohio; Debbie (Fred) Slade, Greenville, Ohio; Lucas (Katie) Bowen, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Brandon (Kelsey) Bowen, Rockford; Jamie (Kyle) Burger, Lima, Ohio; and Jake Jackson, Columbus, Ohio. There are also twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Deceased are two daughters: Debbie Fisher and Julie Eicher; and one sister, Jean Secrest. Services will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, Ohio.
