Dr. Jack Edward Corle, Sr., 82, of Van Wert, Ohio, died at 4:45AM Wednesday November 21, 2012 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice , Van Wert, OH.
He was born June 29, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio, to Clyde G. and Opal (Foltz) Corle, who preceded him in death. On June 28, 1951, he married Carolyn Sue Ungericht who survives.
He retired from Ohio Northern University where he served as Vice-President for Student Affairs. He formerly was a Teacher and Guidance Counselor at Northmont Schools, a Director of Guidance in Finneytown, Ohio, and a Professor of Education at the University of Cincinnati.
He was a graduate of Greenville, Ohio, High School. He had a Bachelor Degree from Miami University, Masters and Doctors degrees from the Pennsylvania State University.
Both Jack and Sue Corle were active members of the Auglaize Valley of Ohio Unit of W.B.C.C.I. (an Airstream RV Travel Club) where for many years they led caravans throughout the United States. He was a member of the Van Wert First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, Ohio. He was a Mason and belonged to the Blue Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He belonged to Lambda Chi Alpha college fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa and Iota Alpha Delta honorary fraternities. He previously served as President of the Ada, Ohio, School Board.
Survivors include a son Jack Edward (Laura) Corle, Jr. of Findlay, Ohio, daughters Rebecca Sue (Dick) German of Van Wert, Ohio, and Amy Elizabeth Corle of Chicago, Illinois, Three grandchildren, Jennifer Jones of Charleston, South Carolina, Jack Corle and Nancy Corle of Findlay, Ohio. His sister is Jean (Gene) Lindsay of Phoenix, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Monday November 26,2012 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, 722 S. Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio, 45891. Friends and Family may call from 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday November 25,2012 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30PM Monday November 26,2012 at Greenville Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio. Rev. Paul Miller will officiate assisted by Rev. Gus Christo-Baker
