Dwight Hitchcock

Dwight E. "Wally" Hitchcock, Van Wert, Ohio was called home by his Lord and Savior at 5:10 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

He was born: July 30, 1953 in Van Wert, Ohio to Jesse Franklin and Juanema (McElhannon) Hitchcock. His mother survives in Seneca, South Carolina.

On July 22, 1978 he married Debra (Etzler) Hitchcock who survives in Van Wert, Ohio.

Also surviving are four children: Devin (Darcy) Hitchcock, Drake (Celia Diaz) Hitchcock, Darci Hitchcock, and Danielle Hitchcoc all of Van Wert, Ohio; a brother: Paul (Beth) Hitchcock of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; two sisters: Darragh (Jon) Geist of Westminster, South Carolina; and Laura Williams of Marysville, Ohio and one grandchild: Adelynn Nieto.

He was preceded in death by his brother in law: Joseph Williams.

He had worked at Progressive Tool & Die in Delphos, Ohio. He was a member of the former Faith Baptist Church in Van Wert. He had currently attended the Jennings Road Church of Christ

He had graduated from Clark Technical College in Springfield, Ohio as a registered nurse. He had also graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University School of Business. He was a former member of Van Wert Elks, Moose and Eagles, and had coached youth sports in Van Wert for many years. He was an avid sports fan and appreciated music.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio. The Rev. David Ray will officiate.

Preferred memorials are to the family, to Van Wert YMCA Youth Sports Program or to Ft. Wayne, Indiana Lutheran Hospital Transplant Center.
