GREENVILLE, Ohio - Eileen M. Brotherwood, 85, of Greenville, formerly of Convoy, Ohio, died at 7:56 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
She was born July 21, 1925, in Northfleet, Kent, England, to the late Minnie (Crowhurst) Potter and Robert George Potter. Her husband, P. James Brotherwood, died Jan. 7, 1993. They were married Nov. 20, 1948.
Survivors include her children: Nancy (Joe) Byer of Phoenix, Ariz., Janice (Kenny) Dunmire of Magnolia, Texas, Barbara (Chuck) Beck of Alexandria, Ohio, Wendall (Terri) Brotherwood of Greenville and Patricia (Mark) Hanna of Celina, Ohio; one brother: Jack Potter of Belvedere, Kent, England; a sister: Doreen Smith of Northfleet, Kent, England; her grandchildren: Dennis James Brotherwood, Ben Byer, Amy Byer, Carrie Coats, Nathan Dunmire, Elizabeth Beck, Heather Beck, Jennifer Marshall, Daniel Vinson, Sarah Vinson, Grace Hanna, Emily Hanna, and great-grandchildren: David Dunmire, Nathan Dunmire, Jr. and Daymin Brotherwood.
She was preceded in death by a son: Robert James Brotherwood, four brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Van Wert V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries, and a veteran of the Women's Royal Naval Service in the British military.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy. The Rev. Gary Exman will officiate. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Convoy.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert County Relay for Life or Resident Aide Fund at Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
