Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth (Saylor) Mitchell, 93, of Van Wert, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the home of her daughter. She was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Harrogate, Tennessee, to Dora (Daniel) Saylor and Levi Saylor. Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Jay (Ellen) Mitchell of Washington, Illinois, Phyllis (John) Wortman of Van Wert, and Jerry (Julie) Mitchell of Dayton; many nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Troy Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Aaron Wortman, Angie Basinger, Alanna Mitchell, and great-grandchildren, Nolan Mitchell, Jackson Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, Kiley Wortman, Hailey Basinger, and Lauren Basinger.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Saylor, Millard Saylor, Elmer Saylor, Vernon Saylor; brother-in-law, Dewey Middleton; a sister, Rachel Middleton, and sisters-in-law, Mary Saylor, Thelma Saylor, Vinie Saylor, and Pearl Saylor.
She was a retired childcare provider and a wonderful mother. She was also a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Van Wert.
Service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Bud Walls will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Community Health Professionals- Hospice.
