VAN WERT, Ohio - Elmer L. Giessler, 75, of Van Wert, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Hazel (Markley) Giessler and Victor A. Giessler. His wife, Joan E. (Mauller) Giessler, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children: Gary (Lisa) Giessler of Van Wert and Patti (Doug) Poling of Convoy, Ohio; a brother: Gene (Shirley) Giessler of Van Wert, nine grandchildren: Jessica (Tony) Garwood, Christine Gamble, Justin Gamble, Dan Giessler, Jesse Giessler, Dustin Poling, Kelsie Poling, Bailey Poling, Madi Poling, and a great-grandchild: Keaten Garwood.
He retired in 1991 after 30 years at Aeroquip Corp., Van Wert. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and the Van Wert Horseshoe Club.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Revs. Scott Campbell and Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the funeral home.
