Emilene B. Henkle, 89, of Rockford, died at 11:55 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, Ohio, where she was a patient. She was born on March 9, 1924, to Carl Fredrick and Gertrude (Brewster) Miller in Mercer County, Ohio. On March 29, 1985, she married John Junior Henkle, and he preceded in death on March 1, 1987. Emilene was a homemaker, and she later worked at CTS in Berne. She then began working at Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina, where she retired after over 20 years. She has lived her entire life here, and was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Liberty Township, Rockford. She loved gardening and being outdoors. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and baking pies for the church functions. Surviving are two sons, Ron (Mary Anna) Weitz, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jack (Paula) Weitz, Celina, Ohio; one step-son, Rev. Dennis (Yvonne) Henkle, Monroeville, Ohio; one daughter, Gloria (Jack) Clouse, Celina; and one step-daughter, Sandra (Bill) Shepherd, Van Wert, Ohio. There are also nine grandchildren: Brian, Jeff, Carrie, Julie, Jim, Joe, Brad, Jeremy, and Christian, along with ten great-grandchildren. There are also 4 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Emilene has two sisters surviving: Ruth Werner, Pa., and Catherine (Paul) Eichler, Rockford; two brothers, Laverne (Martha) Miller, Monroe, Indiana, and Kenneth (Deloris) Miller, Demotte, Indiana. One sister-in-law, Florence Miller of Rockford also survives. Deceased are one brother, Herbert Miller, and two sisters, Ann Kosier and Helen Linn. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Liberty Township, Rockford, with Pastor Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford on Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the church.
