VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Esther F. Fox, 100, of Van Wert, died at 10:27 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 15, 1914, near Montpelier, Ohio, to the late Ida (Ricketts) Haines and Emerson Haines.
Her husband, Harmon J. Fox, died Jan. 1, 1998. They were married June 2, 1935, in Williams County, Ohio.
Survivors include children: Danny G. (Karen Knudson) Fox of Ithaca, New York, David L. (Carol) Fox of Lake Wales, Florida, Gloria B. (Larry) Wendel of Van Wert, Ohio, Jeanne E. (Jim) Rosendahl of Washington Court House, Ohio, 13 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son: Harmon D. Fox, a brother: Clarence Haines, and two sisters: Lelah Herriman and Zelma Agnew.
She retired as a fifth grade teacher at Union Township School of Van Wert County, in the Crestview School District. She was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, Van Wert, since 1948.
She was an avid quilter and loved sewing. Her biggest influence on others was sharing her Christian faith. She served on many committees for the church and taught Sunday School for more than 60 years.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Ron Lumm and Kasey Rosendahl will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at Edon Cemetery, Edon, Ohio.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to the service at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, Van Wert.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert County Foundation and Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center.
