Evelyn Pugh

VENEDOCIA, Ohio a�" Evelyn L. Pugh, 80, of Venedocia, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert, Ohio. She was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Grover Hill, Ohio, to the late Florence (Ladd) Girod and Lloyd Girod.

Her husband, Hugh Owen Pugh, died May 23, 2014. They were married Aug. 8, 1954.

Survivors include her children: Owen (Karen) Pugh of Convoy, Ohio, Kathy (Bob) McCollow, Bob (Denise) Pugh, and Eric (Jenny) Pugh, all of Venedocia; three sisters-in-law: Dorthea Plikerd of Spencerville, Ohio, Carolyn Girod of Van Wert, and Linda Girod of Plant City, Florida; grandchildren: Chad Pugh, Shonda Marley, Cory McCollow, Peter McCollow, Morgan Pugh, Evan Pugh, Madison Pugh, and Isaiah Pugh, and great-grandchildren: Kayden and Kale Pugh.

Her brothers, Gary, Daryl, and Carl Girod, are all deceased.

She retired from Van Wert Visiting Nurses Assn. where she was a home health aide. She was a housewife and a loving mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she spent lots of hours in the dairy barn feeding and milking cows.

She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia, Salem Presbyterian Women's Assn., Van Wert Co. Hospital TWIG II, Spencerville OES, Van Wert Co. Farm Bureau, Van Wert Hospital Board, Peony Festival-Ladies In Full Bloom, and Van Wert County Farm Focus Board.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia. The Rev. Tom Emery will officiate. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery, Venedocia.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Preferred memorial is Salem Presbyterian Church Major Improvement Fund or CHP Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
