Evelynn Altenburger

Evelyn Frances Keifer Altenburger, 95, died at 4:28 p.m. Feb. 4, 2016, at Vancrest of Van Wert.
She was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Hogate, the daughter of Harry and Alta (Clark) Keifer, who preceded her in death. In 1939, she married Harold J. Altenburger, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Altenburger was a retired nurse's aide at Vancrest. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, Van Wert.
Survivors include six children, Kay Altenburger, of Marysville, Bonny (Don) Michael, of Auburn, Indiana, Susan Waltke, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, James (Sandy) Altenburger, of Van Wert, Keith (Marianne) Altenburger, of Gomer, and Barry (Lynne) Altenburger, of Monroeville, Indiana; a brother, Joseph Keifer, of Toledo; a sister, Bonnie Jordan, of Bellevue; and 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a son and two daughters, who died in infancy, two grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and son-in-law, Kenneth Waltke.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. The Rev. Stanley Szybka will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
