Federico Martinez

March 2, 1942 — January 11, 2025

Federico Rodriquez Martinez, of Convoy, known to friends and family as Fred, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Fort Wayne, at the age of 82. Born on March 2, 1942, in Hondo, Texas to the late Leandro and Gregoria (Rodriguez) Martinez, Fred moved to Van Wert at a young age, where he spent the remainder of his life. On July 9, 1966, he married the love of his life, Denise Ann Breese. She preceded him in death 2021

Fred was a dedicated welder, honing his craft in steel structure fabrication at Don R Fruchey Inc. His hands not only shaped metal into meaningful structures but also created beautiful knives, a testament to his creativity and skill. He took great pride in his work, and his artistry will be remembered by many who experienced his craftsmanship.

In his leisure time, Fred found joy in the simple things-watching westerns and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys were among his favorite pastimes. He was a true fan, reveling in the thrill of the game and sharing those moments with loved ones.

Fred is survived by his beloved daughters, Regina (Greg) Adam and Milissa Martinez, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Martinez, Vincent Adam, and Quintin Adam. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories shared with his brothers, Lee (Bev) Martinez and John Pisarro, and his sisters, Carol Diaz-Martinez and Maria Casarez.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers: Rito, Jesse and Joe Martinez; sisters: Guadalupe Martinez, Esperanza Valdez and Sanjuana Stetler; as well as an infant brother and sister.

Fred will be laid to rest privately, along with his wife, in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
