Forrest W. "Grib" Gribler, 91, of Van Wert, died at 8:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Van Wert, to the late Goldie Ethel (Siders) Gribler and Forrest W. Gribler Sr.
His wife, Virginia E. "Ginger" (McGrew) Gribler, preceded him in death. They were married Oct. 13, 1956.
Survivors include children, David (Beth) H. Gribler of Powell, Ohio, and Sara E. (Roger) Grone of Delphos, Ohio; sister, Mary McCray of Spencerville; grandchildren, Ashlee (Kyle) Kovacs and Haley Gribler, and a great-grandchild, Hadley Kovacs.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Mac Gribler, his brothers, Donald, Doyt and Graydon, and a sister, Margaret Mack.
He retired in 1988 after 30 years with the United States Postal Service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Van Wert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of Van Wert American Legion, Van Wert Masonic Fellowcraft Band, and a former trustee of Van Wert County Historical Society.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Van Wert.
