Frank Conn

Frank H. Conn, 88, of Van Wert, died at 11:53 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Hearth and Home in Van Wert.

He was born June 3, 1927, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Pirly (Lewis) Conn and the Rev. Clifford Conn. His wife, Winifred R. "Winnie" Conn, died Dec. 19, 2014. They were married Nov. 26, 1953.

Survivors include children, Michael A. (Beth) Conn and David B. (Lynda) Conn, both of Van Wert; a brother, Raymond (Arlene) Conn of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jared M. Conn of Columbus, Ohio, Anthony A. Conn of Raleigh, North Carolina, Alycen (Kyle) Urban and Jordan Conn, both of Van Wert, and three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Owyn, and Vanessa.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joan Conn.

He retired as customer service manager from Aeroquip Corporation, Van Wert, with 30 years of service. He was a United States Merchant Marine veteran of WW II and United States Army veteran of Korean War, and a member of Van Wert American Legion. He had formerly been very active with Boy Scouts of America serving in numerous capacities and was a Silver Beaver Award recipient. Frank was an aviation enthusiast- flying both fixed wing aircraft and hot air balloons.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Doug Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion & VFW. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2015 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Brumback Library or Van Wert County Regional Airport Authority.
