Freida G. Veach of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
She was born December 16, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Homer and Elzada (Overton) Johnson, who both preceded her in death. On March 8, 1959, she married George J. Veach, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Georgette "Ge-Ge" (Kim) Zinn of Van Wert; two brothers, Heartsill Johnson and Raymond Johnson, both of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Pearl Dawson of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Eian Cooper and Cory Zinn; and two stepgrandchildren, Audra Clevenger and Laura Boreen.
Three brothers, Randall Johnson, Fayburn Johnson, and Johnny Basil Johnson (in infancy); and five sisters, Ethyl Andrews, Edith Williams, Burmel Settoon, Juanita Williams, and Catherine Moffatt, also preceded her in death.
Freida was a homemaker and a member of the Decatur American Legion Auxiliary. She had formerly throws darts competitively and was a pilot.
Private funeral services will be conducted at a later date in Phoenix, Arizona. Burial will take place in National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family requests that everyone place an importance on recycling.
