VAN WERT, Ohio - Galen E. Gamble, 92, of Van Wert, died at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert.
He was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Van Wert, to the late Lela (Morris) Gamble and Eugene S. Gamble.
His first wife, Virginia (Taylor) Gamble, died in 1979. He then married Pauline (Keysor) Kundert Gamble. She survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children: Gayetta (James) Hogan of Celina, Ohio, and Barbara Anderson of Clemmons, N.C.; his stepchildren: Kenneth A. (Connie) Kundert of Wetzel, Ohio, and Shirley (Dick) Bolton of Elgin, Ohio; four grandchildren: Christin (Allen) Hunter of Durham, N.C., Tina Hogan of Celina, Trevor (Gabriella) Anderson and Stacy (David) McGrady, both of Charlotte, N.C., and five stepgrandchildren: Kevin (Brenda) Welker of Scott, Ohio, Kent (Kathy) Kundert of Ohio City, Ohio, Keith (Julie) Kundert of Convoy, Ohio, Debbie (Rex) Bragg of Venedocia, Ohio, and Karen (Roger) Rank of Van Wert. He is also survived by many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Gamble.
He was a lifetime farmer in York Township, Van Wert County, and retired in 1983, after 18 years of service, from Continental Can Co., Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert.
A Celebration Of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, also one hour prior to service Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorial is St. Mark's Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
