Gary G. Hartman, 82, of Van Wert, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to Faye (Gaskill) Hartman and Zack Hartman. His parents are deceased.
His wife, Marilyn S. (Hines) Hartman, is deceased.
Survivors include children, Jeff "Boone" (Tammy) Hartman and Pam (Kevin) Krick, both of Ohio City, Ohio, Tami (Jeff) Couts of Van Wert; daughter-in-law, Sandy Hartman of Convoy, Ohio; brother, Jerry Hartman; sisters, Carol Parsons of Van Wert, Betty Bressler of Ohio City, Betsy Ridenour of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Hartman; a brother, Zack Hartman; a sister-in-law, Nellie Hartman; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Parsons and Bill Bressler, Sr., and one grandson, Kodi Hartman
He retired from the City of Van Wert Water Department after 30 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Van Wert American Legion and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, Nascar, boxing and joking around.
Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by the Van Wert American Legion & V.F.W.
Visitation is 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
