Gene Allen Wisener, 58, of Ohio City, died at 2:26 p.m. on April 22, 2016, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born June 18, 1957, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Patricia Ann (Bayles) Wisener who survives of Van Wert, and the late Lester J. Wisener.
Other survivors include a special friend, Sharon Kay Stone of Berne, Indiana; children, Shawn (Jade) Wisener of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Joshua (Jennifer Fourman) Wisener of Celina, Ohio; sister, Kimberly K. (Mike) Lare of Convoy, Ohio; grandchildren, Cayson Allen Wisner; Hollyn Rea Wisener, and Bentley Michael Wisener; four aunts; one uncle; seven nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester L. Wisener, and a sister, Terri Cummins.
He was a custodian with Van Wert City Schools for 22 years and then 14 years with Classic Delight Inc.
He was a member of the Wilshire Sportsman's Club and a former member of the Van Wert Moose Lodge 1320 and the Van Wert Eagles. Gene was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory, Van Wert. Pastor Jim Burns will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Liberty Baptist Church or First United Methodist of Rockford.
