George Hessel

George D. Hessel, 87, of Van Wert, died at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Hearth & Home in Van Wert.
He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Margaret (Mohler) Hessel and Ira Hessel.
His wife, Betty (McClure) Hessel, survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include children, Jerry David (Linda L.) Hessel of Paulding, Ohio, Ronald (Joyce) Hessel of Scott, Ohio, and Karen Sue Hessel of Bluffton, Ohio, grandchildren, David John Hessel, Rebecca L. (Mike) Deel, Michael James Hessel, Thomas Joseph (Renae) Hessel, and great-grandchildren, Leila Arianna Deel, Avianna Jordyn Deel, and Luke Thomas Hessel.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tara Nichole Profit and his half sister, Pauline Morris..
He was a lifetime farmer and former owner/operator of Hessel Tillage Tools and was a Rawleigh salesman for 35 years. He was a loyal member of North Union United Methodist Church in Van Wert County, Ohio.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Greg Wack will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Hearth & Home Activities Fund or North Union United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
