Gladys Lee

VAN WERT, Ohio - Gladys F. Lee, 85, of Van Wert, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Goldie (Johns) Wade and Lewis Long. Her husband, Lawrence G. Lee, died Oct. 5, 1999. They were married May 19, 1946.

Survivors include her children: Larry (Ann) Lee of Van Wert, Lawrence L. "Von" (Vicki) Lee of Middle Point, Ohio, Linda (Ron) Kreischer of Lexington, Ohio, LaRita (Paul) McCallister of Pensacola, Fla., and Rev. LaDonna (Steve) Thomas of Hanover, Pa.; brothers: Dale Long of Van Wert and Robert (Marge) Long of Ohio City, Ohio; sisters: Grace Dreher of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Betty Agler of Van Wert, Dorothy High of Portland, Ind., and Roberta Bowersock of Richfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Long, and a sister, Helen Pastor.

She was a homemaker. A member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, she was also a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Guild and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert. The Revs. Philip Zielinski and William E.D. Barlow will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Preferred memorial is Emmanuel Lutheran Church OR Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
